THE ECONOMIC EFFECTS OF COVID-19
Grade 11
A compilation of data showing how different socioeconomic classes are faring in this economic climate.

How different races are doing during the pandemic.
There is a very clear distinction between how people of varying races are doing in our current economic climate. For example, while 38% of Caucasians and 44% of African Americans have had someone in their family lose jobs a staggering 61% of Hispanics have had the same thing happen to them. It makes sense because very often racial minorities take lowing paying jobs that are very expendable and they are some of the first people to lose their jobs in times like these.

How different races are doing during the pandemic.
In addition to having lost more jobs, African Americans and Hispanics are also struggling because they don't have any savings to help support them if they do experience pay cuts or furloughs. While 53% of Caucasians said that they had money to fall back on only 27% percent of African Americans, and 29% of Hispanics said the same thing.
