WHAT IS DIGITAL HISTORY?

In order to introduce digital history, first the definition of "history" must be laid out. History is not, as many people believe, the same thing as the past. Instead, it is the discipline of studying and interpreting the past.

Digital history is a twenty-first century mode of communicating historical research or findings to a greater public audience. It is meant to be interactive and easily accessible in order to provide historical information to anyone with an internet connection.

OKAY, SO WHAT IS THE WILDCAT DIGITAL HISTORY PROJECT?

The Westwood High School is an International Baccalaureate school in the Dallas area. Instead of continuing with regular coursework via distance learning for their history class, the sophomore and junior classes have opted to work on an innovative interpretive history project-digitally. Each student's project is has been designed by the individual to suit their interests and is entirely unique, including the design of the website. Each, however, share a common goal: documenting and analyzing the impact of the covid-19 pandemic.

Over at the blog are entries from students as they begin to conduct research into their projects. Individual projects are currently in the process of being adapted to and stored on this site as well, taking shape in any number of ways and answering any range of questions.
