One of my interest in this pandemic is how it effects the economy locally and nationally.
My project will be a source of understanding from research and real world experience on how individuals can prepare economically for situations and pandemics like Covid-19.
For example, I want to figure out which areas of jobs are more sustainable during these situations, more than just what the government is calling, “ essential”. I also would like to look at the investment side of these situations and dive into how the stock market can show us how the economy is operating during this pandemic. In the end I want to have a plethora of information on navigating these situations for individuals who might get concerned with pandemics.
Kieran, I think this is a great research project! I think it would be very interesting to know the safest jobs during this time and to get a better understanding of how the stock market impacts the health of the economy. My question to you is that, are you only going to be seeing the security of jobs deemed essential, or are you going to be looking over more than just that? Like, are you going to be able to see the how many non-essential workers are still getting pay in contrast to going on furlough? All in all, I'm excited to see what you put together.

Hey Kieran I think this is such a totally relevant and interesting aspect of the pandemic. The two things that stuck out to me most about your project is how you are willing to investigate what makes an employee "essential": Essential to what, and who? And that many "unessential" workers are still working, and frankly, we're seeing our government tell us who/what is necessary and who/what isn't to public health and economy. That's interesting.
Also, I do think that investigating sustainable jobs and attempting to give good information about becoming financially stable in crisis are related, but huge. Understanding just one industry and the…
