Digital History Update | Dylan Wilford

Since my first blog post a few weeks ago, I have begun the scriptwriting for my first video about meme culture and COVID-19. While I have experience making YouTube videos, I wanted this video series to be well-made. What I didn't think about is how long writing, shooting, and editing videos would be for this topic. There is a lot of background information that I would like to include to give a better understanding to how meme culture works, sort of like a preface to the specific COVID-19 topic. Another challenge has been learning how to use a new editing software. While the software may not be perfect, I believe I can still make quality content with it.

Like others, focusing on this project has been very difficult due to the situation that we have been put in. Quarantine has sucked out a lot of the effort from me, so I have not worked on the script that much. There's a struggle between wanting something to be well made and to also make the well made medium. Motivation to make something you deem good is sparse.

I think the best way to approach my project is to try to get into a better mindset about working on it. This project is something I want to work on. I have many ideas and concepts that I want to put into the video series. With this being a solo video project, I knew that I would have these sort of obstacles. Collaborating with others would have made the process of creating videos quicker, but there is a vision that I specifically want to talk about, to make it more genuine. I feel if I work with others on this project, the vision may be clouded.
