Most posts are under the tag: Should International students come back or not
1. Non-adults should still come back, and those 18+ that don’t have enough supplies. People like me who have a job, we don’t need to bring more troubles to the country! But like, if someone’s family has the money, the fact that they’ll be coming back isn’t something we can change by commenting from the moral high ground Link: Should students at places with worse outbreaks come back?
2. International students can come back, but it depends from person to person: 1. Those who have a criminal record within five years shouldn’t come back. 2. Those who went overseas personally (i’m guessing he means w/o school or gov funding) should go through a background check. 3. Those who pay foriegn taxes (with a job, I assume) shouldn't come back, what I mean by that is only those who pay for themselves to study get to come back.
3. (He’s replying to someone) Ok then you’re superior to us. We stayed at home and quarantined for 70 something days. And once you international students started to come back, the number bounced up. All of our efforts are turning into nothing because you only came about yourselves. China had one day with no new cases already, and y’all came back, gone. Anyway I can’t respect this kind of behavior, coming back and causing troubles.
4. Coming back or not should be their personal judgement. But if they do come back, they need to follow with the domestic outbreak protection rules, be honest about reporting (personal health status), and be quarantined. Those who want bottled water and fancy hotels? Nah. (That’s a news reference, the news said some girl was being unreasonable and not working with the medical worker when it comes to her quarantine).
5. During the Chinese outbreak, Chinese (ethnicity not nationality) people overseas also help us a lot though? If they’re really in tough situations, they should be allowed to come back, but they must follow all the (防疫: outbreak protection?) rules.
6. If we put ourselves in their shoes, if we’re international students, we would want to come back too. But there are so many unknown threats on the way back, not knowing if there are infected on the plane. They definitely want to come back, back first of all it might be dangerous to the homeland, second of all there are chances that they can get infected on the way. So they are frustrated too.
7. Zhang Wenhong (one of the three main doctors that does the public speaking of the virus) said, if I tell you to not come back, you would say I don’t have a heart, but if I tell you to, the domestic pressure of outbreak protection is still a lot. So we only talk about the reality today, the decision of staying in the US or not should be dependent on the quality of your health care. If your mom’s really worried, and you can get tickets, you can come back. If you have things in the US, staying is fine too.
8. Some of the comments are shady. As long as they report truthfully (about health status), of course Chinese people can come back to their own home. On the other hand, there’re a lotta good kids that study overseas too, remember all those kids who stood up against the Hong Kong protests? Don’t have to only look at those who sabotaged the outbreak protection rules.
9. Strictly speaking, if one can get treated in the developed countries, they don’t necessarily need to come back. On the whole for now, developed countries’ medical technologies (NOT SYSTEMS) are definitely not worse than ours. What to worry is that if one doesn’t have access to get treated, and coming back would definitely be a good thing. #International student suspected of infection decided to not come back#.
10. Coming back or not, other people can’t force it. International students will miss their own country, and coming back for treatment or not is a personal choice. If infected, I wouldn't suggest them to come back, considering the virus is extremely contagious. This Isn't a small deal, our country worked hard to get it contained, if all the international students can come back without restrictions, that would go down fast. I’m not one of them so I won’t know what they’re going through, so that’s just my view, the decision is still in their hands. At a time like this, homesickness is only to get stronger, so the students should take care of themselves and we’ll get through this together.
